Yes, you can share video to an Apple TV, via AirPlay, as long as you have the right versions.

I presume that you'd just turn on AirPlay in the multitasking bar on the iPad.

I use LogMeIn and ove it! I use it for Hauptwerk as a touch screen.

Glenn Fleishman had nice things to say about LogMeIn in several of his (somewhat) recent Take Control ebooks.

Windows is always installing updates. :-)

I am not sure I understand the reasons to use sharing. Is it to have second screen? Is there any advantage in using the iPad to present from and linked to my Mac to mirror it?

Richard, the first advantage is that if you don't have a Mac or Windows machine handy, you can do work that you would otherwise do on one of those computers.

Who knew? This is way cool.

It is pretty impressive - I've always been a big fan of remote control and collaborative stuff, and it's fascinating to see it come to the iPad

True, Adam. My LTE mini 64gig is my new "Al Mac Device" and I have VOiP softphone from the App Store called Bria. So my call to and from the grandchildren are free!

... the handout will be polished and PDF'd after the presentation. We'd like to finish it today, but it might be tomorrow morning. Joe likes to have a chance to add last-minute stuff after the presentation, in case any of the Q&A is sufficiently interesting to be included or expanded on.

PiratePad is an instantiation of the old EtherPad code that Google bought for Google Docs

Yes, Mac, that's exactly it.

Version 1.0 had no notes, version 1.1 had notes from show #1, version 1.2 had notes from show #1 and #2, and the upcoming version 1.3 will have notes from the first three shows.

GrandpaChris, I'm not sure how good PiratePad is for saving/storing a document long-term. Google Docs might be better for your purpose.

Tonya, if I have a client who wants to watch the 4 shows online at some point, how would they do that? Would they simply purchase the "Season Pass" PDF and thereby gain access via your website?

...people who bought the season pass initially had to wait before they could watch even the first presentation. The later on that you buy the pass, the less you have to wait for... but, you can't watch them live if they've already occurred.

Worth every dollar!

The eavesdropping could also be done via malware that has taken over nearby PCs. :-(

Once you have the season pass, notice the ticket images at the start of each chapter. The images for a show that's been recorded let you play it. For a future show, the image lets you add the date to your calendar or "play" it, but if you play it early, you'll just go to the Web URL where it will occur in the future.

The odds of there being a bad guy on whatever network you're on are low, but the odds of there being nearby malware sniffing traffic are higher.

Is IPad as secure via VPN as BB10?

I'm not sure Joe knows about BlackBerry 10, but we'll ask

This is off-topic, but I'm having a heckuva time coordinating documents and books that I download onto my iPad onto my Mac. iTunes tells me that I have to erase everything on the iPad and it will load the ones stored in iTunes. I want to go the other way. I've been copying them to Stanza, iBooks and Kindle, hoping one of them will do the trick.

Do you have any suggestions for terminal emulators (connecting to a Unix network)?

Confused about creating a VPN on ipad. CAn I use this as an individual as opposed to a corporate user, to secure my ipad use at a free wifi hotspot/

The other issue I'm having is when I sync my contacts (Addressbook) it triplicates or more on the iPad, but doesn't copy the ones from the iPad into the Mac's Addressbook. I'm not using iCloud, because I don't want to upgrade to 10.8. Too expensive to upgrade my Adobe software. etc... AND I don't like the 10.8 interface. Three clicks to do what used to take one, for instance. Slows down my workflow...

I have found using Hotspot Shield sometimes prevents access to some sites using a browser. Am I doing something wrong?

About my last comment, $G is often faster than the upstream ISP connection, not the local WiFi

Like doing text editing? The other part of my Q. was about using the iPad to present with. Can I use the pad and mirror my Mac at times, show th screen?

If you use Air Display to turn your iPad into another monitor, you can then turn on mirroring on your Mac so they're both showing the same thing.

Richard, if you can describe what you're trying to do, we might be able to be more specific. (Or we can take this to email.)
