EMC has finally shipped the long-awaited Retrospect 8, a major upgrade, featuring a totally overhauled user interface and many new features. You can read about it in EMC Ships Modernized Retrospect 8 (2009-03-23). Eventually, I'll update both the book and the online appendix to cover the new version. For the time being, however, my advice is simple: If the previous version of Retrospect seemed like an appropriate choice to meet your needs, then you should find the new version an equally good choice. If the previous version didn't seem like a good fit, the new one most likely won't be either, despite the changes.
