On p. 65 I talk about a data storage device called the Drobo. Recently a new version of the Drobo was released, with a FireWire 800 interface (compatible with FireWire 400). This addresses one of my concerns, about speed, though the price is unchanged and still, in my opinion, too expensive for what you get. By the way, a Drobo representative said that they've looked into eSATA but found that, for the time being, technical issues and a limited market make it an unattractive option for them.
